SAWGRASS SPRINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL PTA
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2009/2010 school year at Sawgrass Springs Middle School. I am excited this year to be your new PTA president. With your help and participation, I anticipate a fabulous school year.
What Does PTA Do?
Sawgrass Springs PTA supports students, teachers, and faculty as they strive for quality in education. We're pleased that the results of past PTA efforts are evident throughout the school.
What Does PTA Pay For?
PTA funds go toward a variety of uses. Some of those benefit every student, such as the student planner your child receives each year. Others motivate and reward students through award ceremonies and reading incentives. We recognize teachers' efforts at our Teacher Appreciation luncheons. In addition, PTA funds enable students' participation in science and club competitions. This year, to benefit all students, PTA purchased a new system to automate attendance and tardiness tracking. Teachers will spend more time teaching, and less time managing attendance in their classrooms.
How Does PTA Raise Money?
We have many exciting events happening this year. Fundraising is necessary to support programs, but we realize that not everyone can participate in every fundraiser. So to make it easier, this year we have a NO HASSLE FUNDRAISER. With your help, we can reach our goal of $10,000. Other exciting activities planned are our annual Ice Breaker Dance, Book Fair (proceeds benefit the Sawgrass Springs Media Center), Walk 4 Tech Walk-a-Thon (benefits technology purchases), and our newest event, a Teacher Talent Show.
How Can I Get Involved?
Fundraising isn't the only way parents can get involved. Please save your Box Tops for Education Labels, Campbell Soup Labels, and Nestlé’s Pure Life Water Bottle Labels. All of these great companies offer money and prizes that help our school. Our Volunteer Coordinator needs volunteers for activities at the school throughout the year. Please register to volunteer online at www.getinvolvedineducation.com and send in the volunteer checklist found in the first day packet. We also hope to see you at our PTA meetings which are usually held 9:30 a.m. the second Thursday of each month. Check out our PTA page at ssms.org for more information.
We cannot reach our goals without YOU! Please support PTA by becoming a member and participating in our fundraisers throughout the year. Your decision to join the PTA makes a difference in the education of your child. I am confident that with your help we will have a very successful school year. If you have any questions or concerns about the PTA or are interested in getting involved, please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail at teachpleez@aol.com or call me at (954) 227-1565.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Adelstein
