Critter Club

Ms. Aber's 701 Homeroom, the Killerwhales and the Critter Club participated in the Fairchild Challenge. The Fairchild Challenge fosters interest in the environment by encouraging students to appreciate the beauty and value of nature, develop critical thinking skills, understand the need for biodiversity and conservation, tap community resources, become actively engaged citizens, and recognize that individuals do indeed make a difference. Category 4 was researching and writing a first-person narrative journal from an arthropod's perspective. Though there were many outstanding projects, only three could be submitted. Four were reviewed. Nicole Mardirossian's detailed project receives honorable mention. Two projects tied for high score: John-Paul Angulo and Daniela Otero. Jasmine Telfort placed second. Congratulations on your well-deserved certificates and recognition. Thank you for all who participated and allowed SSMS to receive recognition in this annual standards-based, environmental outreach program for students 6-12.
