Directions for the Online 2013-2014 SSMS Course Offering Directory
To log on and select your electives for the 2013-2014 school year, follow the directions below.
The district recommends latest version of Chrome or Firefox.com to be able to properly view the SSMS Course Card on Virtual Counselor.
Also, Update Adobe Flash Player to the latest version.
We also recommend the following path to get to VC until further notice:
a) go to: Browardschools.com
b) select Virtual Counselor
c) Goto: Data warehouse (upper right corner of your browser window)
d) Select: Student
If the browser gives you a security warning to view secure items only, select NO.
All 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students will be receiving course cards for the 2013 - 2014 school year. I urge all students and parents to take time to review these cards and discuss classes for next year. This discussion should take into account plans for high school and beyond as well. This 2013-2014 Course Offering Directory will assist you in selecting your courses for the upcoming school year. We are very proud of our curriculum program and will continue to have high expectations while fostering a warm, caring, and safe environment to enhance learning for all.

Virtual Instruction
All Florida schools are offering a virtual instruction program to students in grades k-12. A virtual instruction program offers students a flexible option to attend a public school using distance and online learning technologies. The enrollment for students entering grades 6-12 opens May 1st and closes September 30, 201.. For more information contact Broward Virtual School at (754)321-1100.
Important notice from the SSMS Cafe
There will be NO Charging allowed in the SSMS Cafe after April 30th, 2013 for the remainder of the school year. Students must either have money with them or in their account if they will be making ANY purchase from the Cafeteria
Student Code of Conduct
The Code of Student Conduct handbook has gone green. The 2012/13 Broward County Public Schools Code of Student Conduct handbook is available to parents and students electronically in English, Haitian-Creole, Spanish and Portuguese. A limited number of printed copies and signature pages are available to parents/guardians. Parents/guardians may contact SSMS to request a printed copy.

Box Tops
Clip Box Tops and earn cash for our school. Please have your child bring in the Box Tops to their homeroom teachers. Click her for a full list of participating items.
Silence Hurts
In light of some of the safety concerns that have happened, we would like to reemphasize some of the programs available to the community and students to prevent violence from happening. Broward County Public Schools has a program through the Special Investigations Unit called "Silence Hurts."
The focus of the Silence Hurts programs is that students, teachers, and parents can all make a difference by letting us know when or where a problem will occur.
The anonymous tip line is (754-321-0911), the Web site is (www.broward.k12.fl.us/siu/tips), E-mail address (school911@browardschools.com) and by texting 'SBBC' plus the message to CRIMES (274637). Tips are received immediately by the District's Special Investigative Unit/Professional Standards Department, staffed seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Names and contact information remain confidential.
