Lunch Ala Carte Items
I hope you find the following information helpful when planning for your child to make purchases from the Gator Cafe (The Food and Nutrition Service Dept. of SS Middle)
What is offer verses serve (OVS)?
OVS is a serving method that may be used in schools participating in the National School Lunch Program or School Breakfast Program. It allows students to select foods they plan to eat and reject foods that they do not want.
To qualify as a reimbursable lunch the student must take 3 of the 5 components offered. They may refuse 2 components. (To quality as a reimbursable breakfast, the student must take 3 of the 4 components offered at breakfast. They may refuse 1 component.)
All Broward County Public Schools utilize offer versus serve.
**After a meal is purchased or a bag lunch in brought in from home, students may purchase extra items. Either extra menu items or snack and beverages as listed below**
*** When sending in pre payment for your child's meal account, PLEASE keep this in mind ***
Ala Carte Items and Student Prices
Items that are NOT part of the school Lunch or Breakfast are marked with a sign and the price most of these items are not available for the students to pick up, they must request them from the cashier at time of sale.
If you have any concerns please feel free to give me a call at (754) 322-4510 Karen Corelli manager.
